Writing

I have been writing on typographic design and related subjects since 1996. This output has included books, conference papers, book chapters, journal articles and book reviews. 

Like most designers who write, I have used writing to better understand my own preoccupations and clarify my ideas. A number of overlapping themes therefore recur at different points and there is some duplication, as part of one article or paper gave rise to others.

This includes book chapters, articles in specialist publications, papers in academic journals, published and unpublished conference papers, and edited transcripts of lectures. The following list is selected from these. In view of this range of contexts, some are more systematically referenced than others.
